The diseases caused by pathogenic parasites remain a major health problem. In recent years, Human Heat Shock Proteins 90 (Hsp90) has become a valid molecular target that has led to a large number of researchers both in academia and pharmaceutical companies. The finding that Hsp90 has important biological functions in some protozoan parasites such as Plasmodium falciparum, Toxoplasma gondii and trypanosomatids expand the results obtained in the human cancer to parasitic diseases.Geldanamycin is a natural antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces hygroscopicus. The pharmacological importance of geldanamycin and its structurally related analogues of these drugs makes a significant synthetic challenge. Therefore, it is essential to have a new, shorter and more efficient synthetic strategy that allows us to access both geldanamycin as various analogs of this compound.
