CENTRO DE INVESTIGACIÓN EN HIDRATOS DE CARBONO (CIHIDECAR)

El CIHIDECAR es una Unidad Ejecutora de doble dependencia CONICET-Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) que funciona en el Departamento de Química Orgánica, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales (UBA) y cuenta con una subsede en la Facultad de Agronomia (UBA).
El objetivo científico-académico del CIHIDECAR es el estudio, aprovechamiento y aplicaciones sintéticas de los hidratos de carbono y moléculas relacionadas. Se investiga sobre aspectos químicos y estructurales de dichas moléculas y sobre su participación en procesos biológicos. En el siguiente organigrama se reseñan las principales líneas de investigación del instituto.
Los objetivos institucionales son la transferencia de conocimiento y tecnología generados en la unidad ejecutora y la formación de recursos humanos con capacidades para desempeñarse en ámbitos académicos o de la industria nacional o privada. Asimismo, se procura reafirmar la trascendencia nacional e internacional de la unidad como un centro de excelencia único en Latinoamérica, especializado en diversos aspectos de la química y bioquímica de los carbohidratos.

RESEARCH CENTER IN CARBOHYDRATE CHEMISTRY (CIHIDECAR)

The CIHIDECAR is a research Institute which belongs to the National Research Council of República Argentina (CONICET) and the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). It has his bases in the Organic Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Natural and Exact Sciences.
The main scientific and academic objectives of CIHIDECAR are the study, exploitation and applications of carbohydrates and related molecules. The research is focused on the chemical and structural aspects related to carbohydrates and on their participation in biological processes. The main research lines of the institute are summarized in the following chart:
Among the institutional objectives, we focus in the transference of knowledge and technology generated in the various research groups that are part of the institute. The formation of highly qualified human resources able to develop in the academic and private fields is one of the main goals. In addition, strong efforts are made to reinforce our national and international significance, as a center of excellence in Latin America, specialized in the many aspects of the chemistry and biochemistry of carbohydrates.
